Apart from the sniffles, coughs and other germs all around me at this time of the year, I actually really love winter…it’s a time for snuggling up indoors, roaring fireplaces and breaking out the scarves, gloves and boots. As the temperatures plummet, here are some of my favourite things for keeping happy, warm and cosy this winter!
1. My Favourite Red
Nothing warms me up on the inside like a good drop! I’m no sommelier but I know what I like – and what I like right now is Byron & Harold’s Circle of Life Shiraz 2016. According to the tasting notes, “flavours of dense bramble fruits, a hint of white pepper and savoury nuances are supported by well-integrated tannins bringing perfect structure and balance to this refined Shiraz.” My take on it? It’s really good.

2. My Favourite Candle
I love a good candle any time of the year, but winter is when the truly rich and decadent scents come out! My fave candle right now is the Concrete Candle by Whitewick Home, in Vanilla Caramel. Hand-poured in Melbourne, this soy wax candle will set the mood beautifully, and its deliciously sweet and creamy scent is perfect for chilly winter nights.

3. My Favourite Treat
Another wonderful thing about winter in Australia is that it’s truffle season! I recently discovered the most amazing truffle honey from Truffle Hill Wines in Manjimup, WA. This delicious liquid gold tastes incredible with cheese, as a marinade or on a spoon! Yummo…

4. My Favourite Throw

5. My Favourite App
Hooray, bedtime stories are no longer just for kids! As someone who often has difficulties sleeping, I was so happy to discover Calm. Featuring classic fairytales as well as some Calm originals, there are several celebrity readers and an ever-growing list of titles. Can you think of anything cosier than snuggling down under the covers on a cold winter’s night and drifting off to dreamland to the soothing Southern drawl of Matthew McConaughey??
6. My Favourite Show
With all the extra time we spend indoors, winter is the ideal time for Netflix binging! I’m currently loving Kim’s Convenience, a fun, check-your-brain-at-the-door sitcom featuring lovable characters and good clean comedy for the entire family. With only 3 seasons released so far, it won’t exactly last you all through winter, but will have you chuckling for a good few weeks at the very least!
